“Igiene e Sanità Pubblica” is one of the most authoritative Italian journal in public health and other related areas. Founded in 1945 by Professor Gaetano Del Vecchio, Provincial Medical Doctor of Rome, who co-edited it with his brother, Professor Vittorio Del Vecchio, the former Director of the Institute of Hygiene at “La Sapienza” University in Rome. The founder himself chose Professor Augusto Panà, Professor of Hygiene at “Tor Vergata” University in Rome, as his successor in leading the journal. They had both started their careers as Public health physicians.
Over the years, the Journal has gained primary importance at the national level and has received recognition for the quality of some significant public health content, including healthcare organization and the environment. For the past two years, it has received significant recognition from the American Library’s specific Commission, which has awarded it a score between 3.5 and 3.8, corresponding to “very good,” officially placing it within the network of journals indexed in Medline and Index Medicus.
